AFL Central West looking forward to 2015
AFL Central West held it pre-season meeting to launch the 2015 season last Sunday with all Clubs looking forward to the 2015 season. The League has expanded to eight clubs in 2015 with the re-entry of the Parkes Panthers into the reserve grade competition after a two year recess joining the current Clubs of Bathurst Bushrangers, Cowra Blues, Dubbo Demons, Mudgee Black Swans, Orange Tigers Young Saints and Junior Club Bathurst Giants.
“We are excited that Parkes has been readmitted to the competition with a number of new players and administrators bringing additional support to a Club that has been in our region for many years”, said Peter Vlatko, Chair of AFL Central West.
The senior competition commences on the 11th April after the Easter weekend.
A committment to junior development across the region can be seen with two locally based junior competitions being run in 2015 in the region. The Cowra-Orange-Bathurst junior competition will continue for the fourth season whilst the newly formed Orana competition has been recruiting in and around Dubbo. Auskick centres are also kicking off in May around the Central West with four gala days planned for the younger players.
In a first for the Central West, planning is underway for a Female Football competition. There has been increased interest in this concept over the last few years and Clubs have committed to developing this concept to run along side the senior competitions on Saturday afternoons.
“The AFL Central West Board is pleased to offer a range of competitions with something to suit everyone interested in playing AFL”, said Mr Vlatko.
He urged all interested players whether junior or senior, male or female to contact their local Clubs.
